    New 5-series

I haven't read much about them, but here's a couple of official press photos:

I know this is retarded... But I'll say it anyway. I never really liked the Bangle 5-series (except the drivetrain and interior), but after seeing it in these photos I think it looks pretty modern compared to its successor.

In saying that, my favs are the E34 and E39 - I still want an M5 from that era. Geeze they made some sexy vehicles.

4th gen 5 series is probably my favourite. But the new one does look alot friendlier than the outgoing model.

Agreed..maybe they are dated, but the E39 M5 especially was 'special' when it came out..the new one looks like a slighter smaller updated version of the previous 7 series. Lost a lot of the sporting 5 series intention...

Remember when a new BMW came out and you just said "wow!"..hasn't happened in a long time, always something or in this case a lot of things to pick on..

Interestingly it sounds like BMW are dropping the V10 on the M5 in favour of a twin turbo V8. I remember it wasnt so long ago that BMW would never have considered using a turbo on any of their M cars. Will certainly change the nature of the cars as they have always had highly strung screamers of engines.

For me as well the E34 and E39 were the awesome models. Never really liked any of the bangled BMWs but as with anything if you stare at it long enough it will start to look ok. The new model looks like they have removed the curves and added some lumps.. Kinda a bit boring looking really. Having said that... will wait to see some of the sporty models as they always look nicer.

E28 and E39 are the pick of the bunch for me. I loved my E28 528i Manual, was a fantastic car.
    Cheers,

I really didn't mind the bangle 5 series, the new one looks too tame - Just like a big 3series.

Maybe it will look better in person.

I never liked the E60. It alvays reminds me of japanese car for some reason. E39 is IMO the best looking 5 series and i wouldnt mind a nice 540I sport. M5 would be ideal but maintenance would be a killer

bmw are changing a fair bit recently i guess. once upon a time they wouldnt dare have a non rwd M car but look what happened with that x6 M urban assault vehicle....

and im sorry, but the new 5 series looks so emotionless and "check me out im the almost-boardroom kid". the differences between this and its predecessor remind me of the first time i saw the new lexus's released (except for the i.s.)
