98 euro for postage and handling on a set of metal piping that probably weighs a fair amount? I think that's fine lol...but I might be wrong.

Given the size and weight of the item I dont think thats an outrageous quote.
I know its a bit late but for international purchases you should always ask for a shipping quote before bidding.

I think your only option here is that if you arent happy with the quote would be to ask if they are willing to let you cancel the sale.

Hi, 98 Euro is probably not to bad for shipping. Headers are heavy and bulky. I just put a order in for a large scale model plane kit from Germany and almost fell over when i got the bill for shipping, 410 Euro!! But the box is 1.7m long and weighs 10kg. The Australian dollar is crap to the Euro!

    X2

I've has alot of parts sent over from Europe and the UK, the quote sounds about right to me.

What country is it coming from? I know you said ebay.uk but why is the price in euro's?

Maybe the quote is from a courier, you could ask him to get a quote from the post office, but it probably wouldn't be much cheaper if at all....

Just to add my 2c, I've had shipping quotes for the exact same set of rims from italy and the US. The Italian shipping was 2-3 times higher then getting them from the yankees!

Yeah, next time ask for a quote first before committing! I wanted to buy a novelty car model on ebay.co.uk with the sizing of the item being about 6 DVD cases stacked on top of each other, and they quoted a shipping price of 60 pounds Ridiculous!

Thats pretty steep considering I got quoted $250 USD for shipping of 4 BBS RM's from the states...

I paid GBP 60.00 for freight for a Transporter headlight to be sent from the UK to Oz - it took over 6 months to arrive by surface mail ! Headers would be heavier and possibly bulkier too.

Yo have to watch freight costs on ebay (and Amazon too), as many buyers have a low price for the article, but they make their real profit by inflating shipping costs. I always add the price and the shipping cost before making a bid.
