and golf just requires a lot less exertion for a lot more money if you're decent. plus a lot less chance of dying on a golf course, i know which one i would pick if i was decent at either.

Ali was a great sportsman, Jordan was a great sports man, Schumacher was a great sports men. Tiger woods...not so much. He's good at Golf but you cant realy call that a sport, i mean damn, the only way they will brake a sweat is if its 35 degress and even than they have a caddy holding an umbrella for them haha.

Sports is defined as an active diversion requiring physical exertion and competition. Golf does not require any significant physical exertion and should therefore not be considered a sport. A person who plays Golf is a Golfer not a sportsman. FFS they dont even walk to the ball.
Bowls is a sport! Hell, darts is even considered sport! It's got nothing to do with breaking a sweat. Whether you like it or not, it's a sport, and he's a sportsman!

Most people wouldn't even come close to making par on an easy course. There's a **** load more to it than smashing a ball. But if you don't understand that then I'm not even going to bother

PS: You need a new dictionary.

I used to play golf in comps when i was a junior, takes loads of practice to get good. if you miss the sweet spot on a driver by the tiniest of margins the ball hooks off into the scrub. Golf is a very precise sport its not a physical sport that makes them no less sportsman and like I said before Tiger is the highest paid sportsperson ever his earnings are no over 1 billion USD.

LOL @ you and everyone else who thinks these games can be called sports. I understand it takes skill and all that but so does chess and scrable. Just because its hard doesnt make it a sport either. For some people changing a tyre is hard but thats not a sport is it?

If you actualy look it up you will see that the majority of hte time is called a game and not a sport, even pro commentators argue that its not a sport.

    Its this:

    VS

If you cannot see the difference then there is realy somthing wrong with you and everyone eles who cannot tell the difference between and acutal athlete and someone who wears slacks and a polo shirt to hit a ball with a $10k club across a green.

How do you define "normal" sport? The two most popular sports in Australia are probably Golf and Netball.

Spyda you have clearly never played golf in your life, if it were so easy and not a real sport why isn't every single person playing off of par and a pro? It is such an exact sport that you have to be mentally and to some extent physically fit to play well as it requires lots of concentration to play consistently.

This is a pretty ridiculous argument that this thread has gotten to.. far out debating whether a sport that has been around since the 15th century which is a lot longer than Rugby, auto racing etc. is an actual sport.
