Mobile telemarketing - do not call register

    People,

I did this last year, and have had stuff all telemarketing. You have to re-register periodically, but enjoy the peace.....

    Cog.

This is for Australian phone numbers

REMEMBER: Mobile Phone Numbers Go Public this month.

REMINDER all mobile phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will
    start to receive sale calls..

YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS

Below is a link where you can enter your phone numbers online to put an end to telemarketing
    calls.

Hmm..I got this in an email the other day and deleted it because I assumed it was spam.

I've never been telemarket called on my mobile or home yet...so who knows?

As someone who works in the telecommunications industry, I really don't see how this is possible unless you accept a reverse charges call.

I wasn't aware that mobile numbers are being made public either...

And interestingly, on the Do Not Call website, there is a link to this.

I agree on the reverse charges, but I figured it can't hurt to put this great service out there...

If you are roaming overseas and they call you you'll get charged too. Otherwise you won't.

Thanks for the advice... I've registered my services.

I was already on the Do Not Call Register for my home phone - this cut down telemarketers by about 90%. I still get calls from the Rural Fire Service and The Guide Dogs - to which I am very rude and tell them not to call again - they still do.
I have added our mobiles now.

And I know the RFS and the Guide Dogs are worthy charities - but not when they are wasting that sort of money on phone calls and telemarketer wages
