Customer’s BRAND NEW Volkswagen Golf R Wheel Literally Disintegrates at Speed! (Gallery) | Epic Internet
Not sure what to think of this, surely a wheel couldn't just fail driving? Well at least a good quality wheel won't..
God damn....
White Scirocco R
White MK3 Golf 2dr
White Caddy (Work Van)
Was it the tyre or the alloy that failed?

Supposedly the alloy itself. the tyre looks fine in the photos
Bugga! Got to be lucky it didn't happen in the hills
Interested to hear what the full story is, considering the car isn't technically "BRAND NEW.
One thing worth noting is that VW doesn't manufacture the alloys. A third party, most likely ATS does. They'd perform their own QC on them to VW's standards in-house.
I'd be putting it down to a case of a dud wheel (i.e. manufacturing fault) than anything else. VGA will sort it out, and hopefully, it'll be the last we hear of it.

looks like having too much fun on the twisties at Mt Nebo or Mt Tamborine where cops are minimal at midnight time... and sometimes big pot holes are not visible at night unless you drive normally.
but hey the wheel damage looks nasties!
Mitsubishi Pajero Sport - Super Select 2WD/4WD
Toyota 86 GTS Performance Pack Moon Slate - RWD
MINI Cooper S Clubman - FWD
That looks bad, but have we heard the whole story? I had an M3 OEM 19" fail, but it was after a bad pothole.
