    mk2 GTI or mk3 VR6

always wanted either one of these and i'm now looking to buy a cheap car to travel to work. will be doing about 60km a day (all freeway), which one should i pick? please consider reliability, fuel consumption, cost of parts, etc.
for me the only advantage of vr6 would be that i got a spare set of bbs rs

    hahah

well in the case. VR for sure.

VR's are heavy on juice. my mk 2 does under 10's when getting flogged, and around 8's on the hwy. but mk 2's are getting a bit older now, and need a bit of love.

get a nice GL or CL mk 3, and then convert it to 5x100 and then put the BBS's on that!

depends on what you consider good or bad
VRs arent too bad on fuel 10 - 12L/100kms around town and 7 - 8L on the highway.

Depends on how you drive. I flog mine constantly and it still seems to do 400 - 450ks to a tank.

MK3 vr6 will be a quicker car a nice to drive than a mk2 GTI

my mk2 2.0 8v get mid 6's on the run from geelong to Melbourne

if you want a nice looking car which stands out, then mk2 all the way IMO

VR6!!! I drive the same to work every day on the highway, it's just magic - so comfortable too.
Mine is also the "bus" and hasn't broken down on me yet! If anything does go, hasn't cost me much to fix either.
    But a MK2 VR6 would be sweet...
