Yep, on a league of its own!

Yeah I'm sure a HSV would be quicker/larger, but a new AMG with that power and specs for under 100k?! Next car for sure!

There's been a LOT of changes in piezo injectors, as with all things, and the problems with the early ones was all down to sealing the piezeo stack from oil, which over time builds up metal particles and thus becomes conductive. This also assumes the injector is bathed in oil, which is mainly the case in the old mechanical, cam driven PD injection systems. Sure it still happens, but common rail in the diesels, and most petrol cars can work around that pitfall and keep the piezo stack out of the oil. A piezo injector in air should outlast the car.

I'd have one of these new babies in a heartbeat if I could afford it!!!

Delivery is scheduled for 10th December. Comes out of production end of September. Can't tell you how excited I am. Had to go with white with black rims so I can outclass all those White 'R's that are around! Sad to be leaving the VW fraternity though.

lol. it's all just learning, man - not out of anyone's reach.

i think i must be weird. hat's off to anyone who's going to buy this, but i've seen a few a250's on the road in melbourne - they just look odd, what with the sedan length nose.

Agree - not the prettiest proportions around. I looked at one in the flesh, and was not impressed with the interior ergonomics - nothing tops VAG for that. The LCD display screen looks like a complete after thought. Stuck on a little arm in the middle of dash. Why not have it pop up out of the dash?

I'm splitting hairs of course. If I had the cash I'd sure be keen to short list it.

Either Merc haven't done their homework....or perhaps they've done their homework and overcome the failings some have experienced with these things over the years.

Very impressive specs no doubt these things will sell like hotcakes. The more competition at the pointy end of the hot hatch segment the better!

Merc are using piezo injectors in a lot of there cars. Most notable in there v6 diesel engines which have been going strong for a while now.

The army versions have been kicking around Aus in trials and now in units for nearly 2 years and not one has failed due to manfacturing fault.

Yeah... quality/ customer care issues aside, i've gotta say that VAG is pretty up there for ergonomics [one of the few hatches i could get comfortable in, when i was 150kg's].

Yeah, there's a lot of misunderstanding about the piezo electric triggering of the injectors - the basic principle is very sound but the implementation in the unit injectors for the high performance VAG PD diesels by Siemens/Bosch was flawed due to the heated oil that surrounded the wiring in these engines.

The newer common rail engine injectors (including VAG ones) almost all use piezo electric triggering to allow the much more precise control than solenoid triggering which is what makes the common rail engines so much more refined (since many more injections/cycle are possible) and in these engines, the wiring isn't bathed in oil.

    shut up.

when the time is right, we can finally chirp tyres again.

A45 = "im so comfy but why did that little car murder me?". folks, keep in mind that our roads are pretty intensive... unless you're ghey (big power, no suspension travel).
