Melbourne 's new super Speed cameras

Melbourne 's new super Speed cameras

It's a cylindrical pole about 2m high with 3 Perspex stripes on it (hidden cameras, one for each lane of the highway), and there's some matching sensors on the far side of the road in the gutter.

When you see the stripes it means that there is a speed camera. The locations for these new cameras are listed here.

One is located at the bottom of a very steep hill. Of course it is illegal for a radar or mobile speed camera to be set up in these sort of positions, but its “ok” if its fixed.

So? If you don't speed this is completely useless information.

How are they hidden if you can see them?

revenue raising at it's best and will no doubt probably cause more accidents than they prevent having been a victim of being hit up the bum while stopping for an amber light where there was a camera.

get a garmin, navman or tom tom and download the latest speed camera updates, mine goes boing boing and spoken alert as well.

Where does all the moeny go - not to fix the roads to pay for stuff ups like myki etc.

Correct. So given you are perfect and never go more than 3kms over the speed limit in Victoria there is no need for you to bother.

For the rest of us non super human drivers its good to know that we should be keeping an eye out for these new cameras.

I do see what the government is doing though. And they should be commended for it. Basically if they can take all of our licences away then there will be less deaths on the road. Sounds like an effective strategy to me.
