    MCM does a Golf!

Sorry but mcm got it wrong here. They mock jdm style fanboys for their mainstream style, but go mainstream on the golf themselves....

Trying to catch new audience on the cheap?

I couldn't disagree with you more. What you believe to be mainstream is certainly not the publics perception of mainstream. Which is why its a pertinent moment when the guy in the MK6 GTI gives the MK3 a 10/10 yet gives his own car a 5. Other than google image searches, I haven't seen Golfs like this driving around Sydney (well anywhere in Australia actually) Of course they exist and within the VW community are probably well known, but they are not mainstream at all.

(I'm scared to think of what your idea of a mainstream lady looks like but I hope she isn't rusty and cambered)

And as far as "mocking" JDMstyle - most of the MCM cars are "JDM" so whats being presented has a strong element of self mockery. Little kei cars, a 1.3L converted Cuore with buckets of camber - thats what MCM is. Crappy cars mostly done on a budget. I love JDM - have imported multiple cars from Japan. I also love VW's - have owned 4 all up including 2 GTI's and currently still own one. Passion, enthusiasm, and having a go at something new is not "wrong".

I think you may have missed the underlying theme of the video.

Good to see you back on here!
Also nice to see a return to euro as in season 1 and 2 with the Mk4 GTI and the S3.

Watched it last night as it's blocked at work.
Had a laugh, saw some garage car mods, was surprised Jap beer doesn't cause rust and thought it looked pretty awesome for a cheapy head-turner.

I was wondering if you would jump back on here for a look Moog.

I enjoyed the video, as I do all your other MCM vids.

I'd hate to think someone would go and do this to thier own car now, especially something that was so (seemingly) tidy.

Never been a fan of the 'rat' look on newer cars (anything newer than a 69 beetle, and it's just wrong imo!), however it does serve its purpose - it is attention grabbing! (Not sure if that classes as street cred though :s)

Taken for what MCM is supposed to be - entertainment - I loved it. Looks hilarious. 10/10. Overall an enjoyable and great episode.

Like MCM, the cars you always have the most fun in are the horrible ****boxes. The blue turd looked like fun as did this project.

I love MCM and this is up there with the episodes shot in Japan as far as favourites go!

Being a VW fan, some of things they did to that MK3 made me cringe at first but seeing the finished product I couldn't help but smile at how it turned out. It's surprisingly cool, and to steal the show at a Honda meet is ultimate lawls ^^ Just goes to show it's not about money, it's about creativity.

Can't wait for the Brisbane MCM meet, turning up to that one for sure!

EDIT: who knows, maybe that little stunt might've converted a few Honda fans to come over to the Euro side

Thanks for all the comments guys! I never left - I'm a regular lurker here. This forum has always been a super helpful and friendly place full of great people such as yourselves. It's actually one of about 5 forums that I go to regularly.

Gocko2K - sorry if I came across terse in my post above. We're not trying to be sneaky and make cheap videos to get a new audience. This episode took longer than nearly all of our DIY guides, and we've had VW's on the show for years. I love them, and still regret selling my MK5 GTI. The only car I actually regret selling properly.

MK6 GTI is the feature car in the latest MCM Magazine too: Mighty Car Mods Magazine: Issue 4 - Mighty Car Mods Online Shop

And yes sadly, I did own a Jeep for 6 weeks. I was not in a balanced state of mind when I decided to buy it and sold it to buy a Cuore and then my MK4 GTI, so owning that Jeep was probably best thing that ever happened to me!

Hope to see you guys soon at a VW or MCM Meet. Thanks again for the kind words.

Shamelessly taken from the MCMFB page,
Reminds me of those Harlequin MK3's for some bizarre reason.
