Its good to see our laws are in place to protect us all from these reckless hoodlums who drive over-powered vehicles and probably have absolutely no idea how to control them, and risk our lives every day they go near a car.

    damn hoons!!!

quick, somebody pass me a cardigan

whilst i agree to a certain extent that static burnouts are far from dangerous compared to ludicrous speed. I also think that if either u or me would get crucified for performing such an act that so should Lewis hamilton. He isnt above the law!

What an absolute farkin joke, all this does is make Australia and the Victorian police an international laughing stock. What a pathetic nanny state this country has become.

Agree Tim, but my comment is aimed at the stupidity of the law, and the draconian nature of its application

If I had a C63 AMG I would probably get done exactly the same. I agree the law should be applied fairly, but if someone says it was dangerous, they're a twat.

    Who cares!

He should cop it on the chin like everyone else I say!

He broke the law & he has to deal with it as much I also reckon it is a bloody joke!

I've never seen anyone get killed or even injured from a static burnout!

I'm still yet to see statistics on the death rate from burnouts & such so called "hoonery" compared to high speed & drink driving incidents!

Isn't it funny how the police always manage to call off a car chase right before a major smash or incident! Mmmmmm right!

But its alright for the police commissioner to carry bullets on a aeroplane!

Funny. the article has more mention of Mark Webber than what Hamilton did!

people in new zealand who are laughing their asses off at the fact that red tape is witholding the scirocco and the golf R etc etc, are laughing even harder now.

tie me kangaroo down, sport, we're a joke- wouldnt be surprised if other F1 host nations have tears in their eyes, they're laughing so hard.

I totally agree with the principle of hoon laws.

They are supposed to capture the idiots who do reckless things like donuts in shopping centre carparks whilst others are there, or highspeed fistails in the wet, both of which there is a realistic rsik that someone could be hurt or killed.

What we have is a bunch of idiots who are applying it to the nth degree and making a mockery of the system.

Right now, a DSGed car blips the throttle when down-changing. The way things are going, that will be grounds for confiscation and crushing!!
