    Insurance

Got a letter from my insurer a little while ago, only read it now...

"After reviewing your policy and driving history, we have found that your insurance risk no longer meets the insurance acceptance conditions under which we provide your cover"

    So, wait, I've:

    a) Got a year older
    b) Had no traffic infringements
    c) Made no claims
    d) Gained an extra 50,000km of time on the road;

Since my insurance was offered 12 months ago, and they want to INCREASE my premiums?

    WTF?

Damn, it happens though. I would have a talk to them about it first. I'm not sure if it still occurs these days, but the old man had an old Alfa GTV and he got a letter saying they would have to increase the premiums. Except the premiums would cost more than to just buy another GTV of the same vintage. So I guess it would also depend on your car too.

Tell them to get jammed, get a quote somewhere else and if they can't meet it, move on, tell them you thought the letter was rude too.

RACV started off with a great quote all things considered and 2 years later I'm paying around $200 less per year.

I've manually increased my excess payment and slightly lowered my agreed car value though (although compared to other insurance company quotes I've already made up that amount).

This may seem like a silly suggestion but it would be much more sensible ringing your insurer for clarification than getting on a forum to complain to the whole world. If nothing has happened to alter the risk it may well be a simple clerical error which can be corrected on the spot. Pick up the phone and ask the question.

    Cheers

Definitely Computer generated mail to the wrong person Happens a lot and as said fixed with a phone call

Far too many get on social media when a simple phone call to the heart of the matter would fix a problem.

Remember how wide an audience these sort of places have before you post a complaint you havent discussed with the company from which you got it,

Woah - I specifically DIDN'T mention the name of my insurer, so I'm not sure the relevance of that statement - I was curious to know if this happens regularly...

The company who wrote it would probably recognize it as would be unlikely to originate from more than one source.
    So the comment stands.
