I'm guilty of exactly the same. The leased car is the work horse and then mk1 just gets flogged whenever she is taken out.
OK, to set the scene a little bit, since getting the Wife the shiny new Kombi I don't take the VR6 on long trips anymore since we have to do so many km's in her car for the lease. That and it's all already taken out of my pay so it feel more like it's "free" when you drive somewhere
But back to me... seems that driving a VR6 like you stole on every possible occasion makes it quite thirsty... 14.5L/100km from the last tank... which got me all of about 290km before heading very close to that little red marker...
I know I can get down under 8L/100km on a nice trip and under 10 if I baby it around town. But where is the fun in that.
So who else has a bizarre need to pour on the dinosaurs just to listen to them howl ??

The R is the leased car and gets driven rapidly as often as I can (daily). Even just a squirt off the lights and if I'm not careful I can average over 15l/100km just driving to work. The worst I have done is have the range drop 100km in a 20km trip to work.

In my little A3 I drive like a maniac (bad habit) and don't feel guilty. When I bought the 3.2 wagon I thought i'll enjoy the VR. However the fuel consumption display ruined the fun as everytime I put the foot down, it shows 49L/100km or something huge like that to bring forth the guilt. I end up nursing the throttle subconsicencely to keep it under 10. Might as well have gotten the TDI :-P
Who needs a advanced tech to save fuel when you can influence the driver lol

I'm a bit of a closet hoon now that I have my GTI; I only drive it evenings and weekends as I use public transport to get to work. Fuel consumption has never been a factor in my purchasing decisions, but my trip computer average is only 8.7l/100km despite the constant heavy foot... best of both worlds really!

my old man averages 7.5L/100KM around town in his MK6 114TSI but then looses his "sh*t" when he jumps in a finds the adaptive chassis control permanently set to sports and the average fuel consumption reading closer to 13L/100KM after I use it...but hey it's healthy to get the oil burning at the correct temp every now and then and hell if VW didn't want you to put the boot in then they shouldn't of brought out such a rev happy engine combined with a great handling car lol

Damn, some good fuel consumption around here; I'm a bit out of luck when it comes to that!
Driving like I do, which is a little hoonish, I get anywhere from 13L to 17L/100km...

Bahahahaha.....
I can beat the balls off my van and get 7.5l/100.

53L of petrol normally gets my vr 400km of average driving, using 5th around town ect :S haha
but the noise just sucks you in. 3rd gear sees very little action unless im on the highway/some nice deserted windy roads
Hmmm. I drive for economy as it is more of a challenge than hooning around and I get fully quantitative results every time I drive - even on cruises.
