Can anyone here help me? My primary hard drive was almost full and slowing the performance down heaps so I tried moving everything to my secondary hard drive and deleted everything off my primary.
I changed my source folder for iTunes but it seems that it doesn't want to change it for each individual song. I deleted everything off my primary hard drive and went to play a song = !. The song couldn't be found.
I then (and thank god for the recycle bin) restored everything I deleted off the primary hard drive and everything returned to normal, yet some songs continue to show me the above error message.
Now, is there a way to still move all my music to my seconday hard drive and let iTunes worry about finding where the song's being stored?
Also, why won't iTunes let me copy and paste all the songs in my Library to a selected folder and let it source from that folder? When I select all songs, it shows that I've only selected about 220 songs when I really have about 700.
Cheers in advance.

On the iTunes issue, is it possible to download all your songs onto another computer from your ipod rather than going back to the original computer, if that makes sense? I've got an older 30 GB ipod.
Yes it is, but not as easily as dragging and dropping them off as Apple have put a block on doing that. There are heaps of small apps you can download that will allow you to take off whats on your iPod.
All the files are hidden on the iPod (mixed up into random name folders with scramled titles, just to make it hard), but accessable if you have hidden files enabled (not sure how you do this on a PC).

You have to direct iTunes to all the tracks that you have moved. As it is designed to sort everything into one folder, thats where they should all be kept. Depending on how many tracks you have, go through your library and if the song is not 'found' then direct it to where they are.
Some people hate the idea of having everything in one folder only, but it really does make it easy and neat/tidy for your files, and so much easier to find.
Check this forum out for more info on iTunes.

Ah ok....sounds promising anyone know exactly how to do this?
Simply, you need to rebuild itunes. You have made to many links break and the xml file has been confused.
You need to create a new empty itunes library and then find your old itunes library.
All you need to do is find the 'music' folder (the one that should have all your music files) in the old itunes folder and drag it across into itunes as an import. To do this you have to ensure that the option of 'copy to itunes library' is selected. This will then put them in the right place in the new itunes library. Make sense?
Ok thanks guys! So everytime I want to play a song that isn't found, I have to find it on the drive somewhere. That's not as bad as I thought but would love to have had a simple two-click solution. Thanks anyways!
iPod2PC is a good one I used when I got my new computer, I also had a 30GB iPod back then so it works ok![]()

What OS are you running Maca?
In Windows, iTunes stores it's media in different locations depending on the version (XP/VISTA/7). You need to change where WINDOWS thinks your media (and/or documents) are being stored before iTunes will play nice. Works the same when moving to a new computer.
iTunes can be stupidly fiddley at times, but once you set it up and go with it, it's pretty good. If you want we can catch up on MSN sometime and walk you through it.
