Interesting to see some higher mileages posted here. Lots of horror stories on these forums would lead you to believe every VW is a ticking time bomb, but I guess we only ever hear of the problems.
My 2007 Golf GTI manual trans has ~95,000kms on board, and apart from heaps of initial expensive warranty work (piston rings, 2 steering racks, driver's lumbar mechanism) seems to have settled into reliability (touch wood). I still periodically agonise over whether to sell or keep, though.
