Holy Crap! 2011 Nissan GTR 0-100 time!

Damn the new GTR just got even better 0-100 in 3 seconds now stock! Thats bloody quick!

There was a guy with a mk1 over in the UK that can out accelerate a veyron.
You can put a 1UZFE into an MX5 and it will run similar times.
Quarter mile times are a useless measure as it doesn't take into account the level of engineering that goes into a car.

To me it needs to be a circuit track time (preferably something detailed like Road Atlanta / Suzuka or Nurburgring to actually account for everything that is put into a car.

No doubt it goes like stink and is a budget sports car overseas but here they are going to be 170k and you are getting a nissan.
Same outcome they came to in ep 2 of Top Gear US

Well its very impressive for a stock production car and shames alot of supercars. Look at the times GTR's have posted at Nurburgring and also the Top Gear test track where even the stock 2007 GTR posted a 1:19.7 to put it into the top bracket cars ever around there. Also the GTR has beaten Ferrari, Porsche etc in Japan Super GT racing so there is no doubting its track credentials.

I can only imagine what the V-Spec or Nismo etc tuned versions will be like. Also its a car that could be arguably used as a daily driver unlike alot of other supercars, if you had the money to upkeep a supercar like that!

I am not sure what your point is? Its fast, handles incredibly well, comfortable in relative supercar terms and is a proven track performer and is very good value for what it is. The only thing it doesn't have is the marquee euro supercar tag , but if it does everything you want at a lower price whats wrong with that? I'm not saying that I wouldn't want a Ferrari Enzo or the likes but the GTR is a damn good car that does it all and in the process embarrasses alot of much more expensive exotics.

It is impressive for a stock car, but it will cost a fortune.
My point is that you can do all those things in a car much cheaper if you build it.
In fact, i wouldn't ever own one, if i had the money i would get a lotus and track that instead.

But obviosuly the GTR isn't targetted at me so my opinion may be considered invalid.

Definitely impressive times with this new GTR. If we were in the US it'd only cost us $85k.

you think that's impressive, check out the golf r with downpipe/tune thread, in the mk6 section.... 0-100km/h times, built up traffic and full mk6 section approval and all.

very impressive. think about the different engine size this car is getting compared to. Love the euros although have so much respect for this car

I've got a motorbike with the engineering heights of two wheels connected to an 1200cc engine that does quicker quarter miles and circuit times. It doesn't mean that I dismiss the GTR's ability to tame both as a non-event.

Having driven the R35 on a track and owned a few older GTRs I somewhat feel sorry for people who dismiss it as "just a nissan". For the price you pay, the tech, engineering and features you get is second to none. Even for domestically sold models the markup is nowhere near as high as the dealer margins on euro cars.

It may not earn points with the euro snobbery crowd, but if you ask any driving/racing enthusiast they'll quietly admit that they're impressed, regardless of which camp they back.

Didn't the last model put Jeremy clarkson in hospital with a pinched nerve in his neck? He was on a track in japan I think and it straightened out of a corner, gripped, and near ripped his head off!
