    Hide your e-toll transponder

    Clicky

Perhaps ignore the first option unless if you have the older style, bigger transponder that you can slip the rego sticker between it and the glass. But the second option is awesome, IMO.

LOL become a member of a Jetta forum to view. If you could quote what they say, here, then that would be good.

No Need to try and hide it my MKV and MK VI both have a little bracket to hold it (not sure whether it was designed this way, but it may well have been) in behind the interior mirror.

Older style E-Tag fits perfectly and is hidden from view by darkened glass but still works perfectly. might take a pic later..

Woops, sorry. Didn't realise that as I'm already a member.

What do you mean? What's this little bracket you're talking about on the Mk5?

Here's the post made on jettamkv.com, on 10/5/2009.

    2. Use a dremel (or tool of choice) to separate the front and back plates of the transponder. (you now fully own it, and any costs or legal implications that apply in your state so accept that responsibility). Remove the control module.

Pop off your dash vent screen and place the control module on the vent arm. Use some 3M stick-tape to secure it. Replace screen. No more ugly box. If you have the dash cubby you can try sticky-taping it underneath the plastic bottom tray (although I cannot confirm the RFID will still read through both the plastic and rubber liner.)

Above the Interior Mirror there is a vertical plastic bar, etag fits perfectly between this and the glass.

Ahh I see what you mean. I've got the same, old style transponder (had it for 3 years now) and I've stuck it behind the rear view mirror so I can't see it from my driving position. Last thing we need on the Mk5 are more things to hinder our view.

That is very clever, hiding the etoll PCB in the top of the dash like that... wonder if I can do something similar on my car...

I guess that would depend on if you've got some sort of vent/compartment that the top layer's thin enough to pick up the signal. Worth a shot IMO.
