Like many french cars they are brilliant to drive but parts can be a bit fragile and at times tricky to get quickly, but I'm sure the froggies can give you a much better answer.
Hi All,
The girlfriend is looking into down-sizing from a 99 Honda CRV, and we've come across a 2001 Peugeot 306 Rally for a decent price. Would anyone have any experience or thoughts on the car, like the pros and cons, i.e build quality, spare parts pricing, etc. Any words of advice would be appreciated!
Thanks!
Anthony

leave the cooking to the French and the car building to the Germans
The french have not got the greatest car quality history
Having owned 8 Citroens over the years I don't understand where this notion of French cars being unreliable or fragile comes from, I am seeing more issues with my Bora than I ever did with the French cars.
I don't even think build quality is that bad however quality of materials used is definitely a problem, especially in the cabin!
A 306 is generally a very basic car compared to a VW of the same age, so really there are only basic things to go wrong like wheel bearings, shocks, bushes, etc. Nothing you wouldn't want to check out on any car that age.
Best to find a Pug forum though if you can.

Thanks for the help guys!
Rybky, 8 friken Citroens? How old are you?
My brother-in-law used to own a 306 RallyE back in the day and I didnt mind it, no real problems... well besides the left rear suspension leaking fluid, resulting in him selling the car... besides that though, it was a nice car to drive around and didnt mind the interior either... from what i remember..

my parents have 2 peugeot's at the moment, only got one of them last weekend.. Are both very nice to drive and the 407 diesel (which is only like 4 years old?) hasn't had a problem. Minutes after leaving the dealer in the "new" 307 though an error popped up which was $200 just to have reset (after a couple hours of phone calls the dealer did end up paying). they're both nice cars to drive (when that turbo kicks in after the 3 minutes to 2000 rpm the diesel is actually kinda fun >=]) but really i dont know a lot about the older ones. Have a read on some peugot forums
