Help me work out how to import MK1 bumpers!

I want to buy a pair of new bumpers for the MK1 - plastic euro style ones. Now from what I can tell, no one imports them in to Australia.

So what do people suggest I do to get them in?

I have had one quote of wait, £375 for shipping from the UK, which was a laugh.

Now if anyone else is interested in getting a set as well, I am happy to chat about joining the orders together.

I have a strong suspicion that this is not going to end up being easy...

    Mick.

I have 2 new rears in plastic, one grey with chrome, and one black.
I also have 2 or 3 new chrome rears. Fronts are very hard to find, steel or plastic.

Does this mean MK1 drivers need to watch where they're going?

Mick, who quoted you that much?
Crazy Quiffs list a pair of plastic ('pattern'?) bumpers at £135 excluding shipping, but even factoring in shipping it shouldn't be anywhere near £375, should it?!

im down, been on the hunt for both plastic front and rear with chrome trims

had the same quote from quiffs.... its not about weight but rather size, the bumpers are alot bigger than chrome ones as they wrap around the guards, hence more mass in the box

Have a look here: Golf1 Narrow Front Bumper - Autostyle Motorsport

Likely to land in Australia including shipping for less than $500.

Look around their site for other MK1 stuff as well .... they have lots ...

Also for the ultimate (IMO anyway) do a Citi Golf front and rear .... need 2 x front fenders, grill & front and rear bumpers .... all up of about $1500 landed .....

EDIT: have a look at the 1980 MK1 2 door in my signature link that had that done to it. All from these guys ....

£375 was only shipping + the 135 for the bars - and yes that was from Richard at Quiffs!

Maybe I need to locates someone with containers coming over...

I might ask you to put my name on that black one pending the outcome of this as I need the front as well. Surely there is a front somewhere in AUS (like you just happening to have 2 in your workshop).

I also have one spare secondhand front plastic, the metal frame needs removal and straightening. I would come up well with a bit of TLC. (like I would too..., any spare females round here??)
And yes, Mk1 drivers shouldnt think of tailgating. Specially with Mk1 brakes the way they are
