I never really liked the Appollo.
Sure it has a lot of power and is lightweight but it has no appeal.

It may beat the GTR around the ring but it has a V8 TT as opposed to a 6 Cyl TT.
It is also more of a race spec'd car than a GTR so it isn't really comparable.
As said previously, the GTR just has more visual appeal as a normal car.

Yeah, but for all intensive purposes the GTR that did that mythological 7.26 was never revealed to the public, nor could the times ever be replicated to within even 10 seconds by a third party; is even less of a street car than the Gumpert.

To a degree you are right.
It was probably some super tuned beast with race spec'd go fast bits.
However, you can still buy a GTR here and make it go fast for a lot less than a gumpert appollo.

You can also drive one down the street and it can look like a normal car.
I never really got the idea behind trying to pass the Appollo off as a street car.

I love it, I think it looks awesome I agree that it's pretty full on for a supposed street car, but hey....i wouldn't laugh at the person who owned one if i ever saw one - i'd probably dribble and get my words all muddled up instead

lol geeze, even a couple of seconds around a legendary track like the 'Ring is a massive difference.

I suppose a McLaren F1 shouldn't compare either as it's a V12. Or a Veyron because it's a W16 and has four turbos. And AWD. And and and....

    It hidious!!!!!

If you want a track car there are cheaper options that are a lot quicker or come very close e.g Ultima GTR, Ariel Atom (the new one with 500HP+), Caparo, Denkervoort D8 (this comes within a couple of seconds of the Apollos ring time and only needs 270HP to do it + it has a VAG 1.8T) or you could go all out and get an FXX.

If you want a really fast road car and you have that sort of money to burn there is endless cars available that are almost as fast, much better looking and more practical e.g. Koenigseggs, Zondas, McLaren F1's (although there worth about $4M now), Veyrons, enzos, reventon's, McLaren SLR's......
