    Gumpert Appollo

No doubt you would have heard about and drooled over the not-too-well-known Gumpert Appollo.

It turns out that its just done a lap of Nurburgring in 7.11, compared to Nissan's claim of 7.26.

Just reading Motor magazine and what I wasnt aware is two things:

    1/ the Gumpert uses a twin turbo 4.2L Audi V8, offering 515kW and 848Nm.
2/ company founder Roland Gumpert was the man who introduced Quattro to Audi's WRC program

It also happens to be the quickest road legal car around the top gear test track.

I think the Apollo is quite the ridiculous looking car and would point and laugh at anyone who dared take one onto city streets.

That said, if it rocked up to the track I would be on my knees in worship

Yeah I think it looks alright hey. I think they get confused often on Top Gear about style and fashion in exactly the same way people get confused about it in the clothing industry.

This is true, and what I was getting at this that the style of the gumpert is just far too race car for city streets. It is purely functional sure, but road cars are meant to look at least kind-of nice since all they'll ever do is 110kph, riiiight? ;P

I never really liked the Appollo.
Sure it has a lot of power and is lightweight but it has no appeal.

It may beat the GTR around the ring but it has a V8 TT as opposed to a 6 Cyl TT.
It is also more of a race spec'd car than a GTR so it isn't really comparable.
As said previously, the GTR just has more visual appeal as a normal car.
