Just made level 24 after grinding out the Laguna Seca track on American Championship in a fully modified Corvette ZR1. Took a few hours!! Bought the Formula Gran Turismo and had a go of the first Formula GT race. Damn its hard!! Much less time to react! Will give the Dreamcar series a run too. Damn XP and levelling is soo slooooow now. At least I can do the Level 24 AMG challenge which should bring in some decent XP.

You gotta play this game with a decent wheel setup... Logitech G25/G27, new thrustmaster (must have force feedback and not feel like a toy)... what ever you can afford. It really enhances the driving experience.

I have setup a 'racing cockpit', GT5 is not the only game I play, I play PC sims aswell, Grid, Blur, iRacing, rfactor so I will make great use of this rig.Its a Logitech G27. Fully home made PVC racing rig. I got the shape and idea from the net (its not my own design, but have adjusted the size that best suits me). Made from 50mm PVC pipes, a few 88deg joints, a few T joints, a few 90deg joints, PVC cement and a splach of matt black pain. Oh, btw... the base of my office chair is temporary until i get a decent seat (office seat is a bit low too but comfortable enough).

Nice setup mate, looks pretty neat and no where near as big and bulky as some of the ones you can buy off the net/shops.
What you reckon the setup cost to build? (minus the wheel)

LOL I'm using a bunnings work/saw horse with the pedals on the floor so I can sit on the couch. It isn't perfect but beats spending $200+ on a wheel stand pro which I don't think will work that well for my application.

All up with all the PVC, fittings, PVC cement, 2 cans of matt black paint. +-$130 (bunnings). I had some timber laying around for the wheel, peddle and seat mount. And I used roofing screws. They have rubber at the head (stops sweaking I figured). I guess the best thing with this is u can get creative with it. I want add the tv mount in PVC too instead of having it sit on the top. Also, the shifter it not in a realistic position, need to add a mounting on the side down lower. Theres heaps u can do to it if u get thinking. PVC pipes and fittings are rock solid too.

Lol Dave, Ive got a Logitech Driving Force GT and I'm using the Mrs' ironing board, pedals on the floor on carpet and sitting on the leather couch! Screen is a 50" Fullhd Panasonic Viera plasma as well. Works a treat, cheap as chips and fully height adjustable lol! Now if I can only work my way up to level 30 so I can get the Red Bull X1 Proto!

Isn't it funny, we spent $60k on cars but try and find ways of spending as little as possible to mount a wheel in the lounge! My couch is really deep so I dont think any of the pre made stands will work anyway. Have seen some amazing DIY jobs between various forums though.

I've gone back to the licence tests the last few days. Have golded everything upto S-8. Just have the last 2 to finish now.

What is this wheel like? Not sure i can pony up the $400+ for a G25 or G27 so i was thinking of one of these.

They're really good IMO, don't see the need to go for the more pricey ones. As a DSG driver, I don't need the shifter anyways
