Again with a thread like this?? Mate, although it is a great thread to start, it has been done several times... Please, do a search.
Everyone talks about The Great Ocean Road as being a great drive. I agree it is good, having taken the R down there a few months ago taking the scenic way to SA wine country. The views are very speccy and there are some nice winding sections of road.
However, if you ever get the chance, drive the Elliot Way in the Snowy Mountains, preferably while there is still snow, it's a bit out of the way but it leaves the Great Ocean Road for dead in terms of challenging, involving driving roads. The odds are you won't run into any cars up there slowing the pace either.
What do you think is a good driving road, and what makes a good driving road? Discuss.

"If can't get behind your troops, feel free to stand in front of them..."
Yeah, he's right, this type of thread has been done to death. But, my 2c worth. South island of NZ. Great roads, stunning scenery, hardly a car on the road, and if you took the tourists off the road, they'd be virtually empty.
