What a douche. I hope you gave him the look of death for being such a knobjockey.
Better write that letter!
Paid my rego on the last day as I always do and the following day
traveling on the freeway passed a highway patrol booking some guy
on the edge of the Fwy.
Within 3 minutes flashing lights in the rear vision mirror.
The police vehicle computer system picked up my rego as I passed
as being unregistered.
Seems it takes a few days for the RTA system to update the Police system.
So we have technology to be able to pickup my rego as I pass by but not update
a computer system.
Anyway lucky I had the new label on and receipt number from paying online.
Officer was not happy so he booked me for having the old label still on $89. (no points lost.)
Came back to the car with ticket and said since you have an excellent driving record you
can write in and have the fine waved.
Have always held police in high regard but this officer has changed all that.

If he'd already put in the fine for the incorrect label, before checking your driving history, then maybe he felt bad about giving it to you once he realised you were a good citizen and hence told you to write in. Having several "real life" friends (i.e. not internet) and uncles and cousins on the police force, I know that once the offense has been entered, it can't be "canceled" by the officer. At least not by them out on the road.
A friend clocked another friend on the radar. Didn't realise until she walked to the door of the car and saw the driver. Being friends she apologised, but again, the computer system had already recorded the speed on the radar gun so there wasn't anything she could do... lucky she was a federal police officer and therefore had discretion on what the fine and penalty was... my friend has that ticket laminated in his glove box and is quite proud of it... but tha'ts another story, lol.
Anyway... change your rego label!
Sucks you got a fine, but this type of enforcement is good.
The less unregistered, unraodworthy shi+ heaps on the road the better.
Better than a cop sleeping while his speed camera "saves lives" booking people for going 2km/h over the limit...
(No need to flame me - I've heard it all before)

I don't get it, did you or did you not have your rego sticker up when it was suposta be?
Doesn't seem like a hard thing to do, its just a sticker. Seems like a $86 fine for being slack more than anything.

Reading his post, I'd say he had both?
2014 Skoda Yeti TDI Outdoor 4x4 | Audi Q3 CFGC repower | Darkside tune and Race Cams | Darkside dump pDPF | Wagner Comp IC | Snow Water Meth | Bilstein B6 H&R springs | Rays Homura 2x7 18 x 8" 255 Potenza Sports | Golf R subframe | Superpro sways and bushings | 034 engine mounts | MK6 GTI brakes |
Yeah had both.
The rego label has always been on the drivers side rear passenger door quarter window since
new, just kept pealing the old off and putting the new back on but this time I decided to stick
it on the correct left hand side which the label says to do.
Got distracted and forgot to take the old one off.
What annoyed me was the officer was all smiley when he thought he had me for an
unregistered car until he read the new label, that's when his attitude changed.
He then walked around the car to find something to pick on.
You my friend just got hit by the revenue collectors.
