    Good Drives Around Perth

    Hi peoples,
Anyone know some good twisty drives around the Perth area??
Preferably out of Perth a bit so there is less traffic?
Or any other enjoyable drives in general, maybe a 2-3hr drive
I just want somewhere I can go and actually ENJOY driving without having to put up with idiots or too many speed cameras, you know what I mean.....

The best road in all of WA is down south with a unlimited stretch of 40km that twists through the hills between Nannup and Bailiaup (Matty T and Geoff have seen it). But that is quite some distance away so the next best is Lady Mcness up to Canning Dam. The first stretch is the best from Roley to the dam with tight corners, changing altitudes over short periods and the long straight where if you hit 190km/hr plus there is chances for some airbourne action. The section from the dam to Albany hwy is pretty rough and has alot of gravel on the road.

Reference to German Car Day held in Northam each year, usually the last weekend in July. Will be timed in to fit with our 2-month cruise schedules

Nannup Balingup Road is probably the best road in the state, I reckon. Unfortunately I did it in mid-winter rain with crap tyres, but it is certainly a very, very nice stretch of road.

That said, be wary of doing it during the week. It is used heavily by logging trucks.

+1 some awesome roads through this area, I took the MPS guys out one weekend a few years back in October and encountered very little traffic!

Thanks for all the ideas guys....
I REALLY want to go for a good drive....had enough of this suburban/city traffic...stop, start, stop, start...
Hell, the farthest I have gone since I got the car is Wyalkatchem, for the Porsche Day a few months back...
