Off the top of my head I can't think of anything new (or still under warranty) but how about an older golf Mk5 or even 4.
Or maybe an A4 (B6).
Both are "safe" and less than 20K. You can always get a better car later, once you have more dough.
Hey All,
Sadly thinking of getting rid of our car (2009 118TSI) for something that's a bit cheaper on loan repayments. My wife is off work now looking after our baby and we'd like her to stay off as long as possible. One way of reducing outgoing expenses is getting a cheaper car
So I'm struggling to come up with something as a good replacement.... basically thinking around the $20k mark, needs to be safe, preferably with a warranty and fit a baby seat in the back, pram in the boot etc... I'd like something that would still be kinda fun to drive..
Anyone have any suggestions!?!?
Thanks!!

MK4 Golf GTI?
They're sub $20k and you get a 4 door car (for the family).
With a pokey little 20vT to make sure you still have fun?
Just my 2c
MK2 - *Insert list of dealer purchased extra's/standard features here*
80 series - The MK2's BIG, Sooty, polar opposite...
HAHAHA
Yeah I might look at some older golfs. Realistically it will probably be something closer to $25k.
I'd prefer something that wouldn't be costly to maintain... starting to think I'm dreaming lol!

I would suggest to avoid a B6 if you hoping to save money, every single one I've looked at lately has been iffy. Wouldn't even consider the CVT model.
Jetta Tdi DSG maybe ? Downgrading can be a prohibitively expensive idea...Mk4 Gti's are more like $10k..but manual only?
You could actually get into a A4 B7 manual for $20k...I don't know if they are a much better bet than the B6.
Oh and aftermarket warranties are nearly always junk..FY and I.
The new polo might suit?
Are you after an auto or manual?
There is a Mk6 118tsi comfortline on car sales for $29,480 no more to pay. Says 0 Kms and is a dealer.
So going down to 25K to save 5k doesn't make heaps of sense to me but I don't know what options you have in yours.
Mk5 GTI's can be had for as little as 22K.
This one has leather, sunroof and 19s for 23.5K with 92K on the clock. http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/...d=12EA42133F78
Mk4 GTI's are advertised anywhere between 10K to 20K depending on Kms etc...
You can get a decent one for 13/14k though.
If you have 25k, I'd be shopping for a mk5 GTI or maybe even a diesel if thats your thing.
