Hey SF, compared my R to an 86 today through the Galston

Hang on you can't do that comparison, I mean now the reason for comparison has been made it is clear the R cannot be brought into picture..
Though given this thread is based on the musing of WJ moving to another car then I thin we should do a Megane v BRZ v GTI v Clio v MX5 v 370Z

Agreed the 86 vs GTI/R discussion might be a bit bias on a VW forum nut it's still great to read WJ's threads minus all the keyboard heros that love to drop in replies every 2-3 posts

    lol!

Went and had a look at one the other day - quite liked it actually, definetly thinking of gettgin one but problaye the 2 seater thing will put me off....funny thing is the more i think about it, the more i think its the GTI seems pretty good value in comparison

35k + on roads for the 86 which will be more fun but not more practical as an only car...
45k ish for my GTI which is fast, has rear seats, proper boot, better interior etc etc etc

I love the ways the 86 is priced low though...hopefull.that will knock on effect to other new cars wanting to compete

    FT86/BRZ -v- Golf MK7

Practicality aside, ideally you'd shop the twins against the Mark 7 Golf GTI.
The std Golf MK7 is due for release on 4 Sept in Berlin.
The MK7 Golf GTI due to unveiling on 27 Sept 2012 at the Paris Motor Show apparently.

    New Volkswagen Golf: Details emerge

Pressure may be on to become more competitive on price/value equation esp. given std equipment on the Focus ST and the twins.

    Cheers.

That would be worse given the MK 7 is supposed to have better performance , new subframe etc etc than the current MK6.. and by that time the 2nd hand market for FT86/BRZ will be crowded anyway... look it has already started.. the hype is so high that people want to gouge the market

IF YOU FEEL THE NEED TO VOICE YOUR OPINION ABOUT MY CAR - please don't send me an "inquiry" with a list of reasons why you beleive I am ripping someone off. I payed nearly $49,000 driveaway for this car, NOT $33.000, like most people seem to think. There is a 18-24 month waiting list, and hence I was RECOMMENDED by a reliable source to increase the price because it would sell which i have now dropped entirely. If you have an issue with all the above, then kindly leave this page. Thankyou

    Toyota 86 GTS Automatic.

Selling because my circumstances have changed as I'm returning to University next year.

Don't wait up to 18-24 MONTHS for a Fully optioned GTS. This car has dealer installed window tinting, interior protection and exterior paint protection, extended 6yr/150,000km Toyota warranty. 4 remaining capped price services every 15,000kms up to 60,000kms. In total, over $5,000 of extras.

This cars main features in comparison to the GT model include: Sat nav/touchscreen head unit, Heated/Leather Seats, HID/LED Headlights, Digital Speedo, 17" Rims, Bigger Brakes, Automatic/Tip-tronic transmission with paddle shifters, 2-zone auto climate control and Push button start with Keyless Entry.

Note: The spare full size 17" Toyota rim and tyre that is included brand new with this car, has already been discontinued from future Toyota 86 Models delivered after September 2012, and won't be able to be bought as an additional option.

This is a truly amazing car to drive and own for someone who doesn't plan to wait until 2014 to own one.

I am in no rush to sell, Price is negotiable but firm.

(This car is under finance)*Legal note.
    $53k? Seriously?
