Dude, its BEAT not WIN. It makes you sound stupid.....or more so...if thats possible.

They didnt play well against Germany because of the tactics that were used by their EUROPEAN coach. Note in the last world cup they knocked Croatia out, beat Greece and Holand in their warm up matches and this world cup they beat Denmark in their warm up match. Unless my geography is wrong, they are all european teams. Also New Zealand beat Serbia and drew with Slovakia and most of the NZ team plays in the A-league.
Its the same cultrue over in Europe as it is here, the only difference is that its bigger in Europe, that more so impacts the quantity of players in Australia rather than the quality.

Its Australia, we are a sports loving nation, we are good at everything, have some pride for your country damn it! And dont you dare say your not from here, because you said yourself, "but their living in Australia".

Im not going to argue with you about this anymore as its apparent you dunno what your talking about, let alone know how to put your words together properly.

You really are a complete utter retard! Germany was the better team on the night, and Serbia had more hunger in there system the other night against Germany! The other reason Serbia beat Germany was because they had 1 person sent off it makes the world of difference, even after that goal all they had to do was defend which they did.

On the other hand the Australia match was not too bad we should have won 2-1 at least!!! I agree that it was a penalty it was last man which is fair enough, but it wasn't a send off! Then the Ghana player should have been sent off for a direct from behind tackle, and he wasn't sent off!?!? The referees in the world cup are rediculous, there is no consistancy at all in any of the games so bad its shameful!

On the other hand hahahaha to Italy, the only reason that they got a goal was because of there fantastic acting skills in falling down good stuff!
I'm soo euro even my missus is shaved...

careful man, you dont want to offend any italians living in australia.

now, by italians, i mean marios in reverse-rake family cars, who like to speak with a ''wog'' accent, whose grandparents emigrated from italy early in the 1900's, people who know SOME words in italian like "tomato passata" [tomato paste] but who dont ACTUALLY speak the language, people who call themselves italian even though they..... have australian residency....... travel under an australian passport...... need the backing of the australian police force when producing criminal history records when they want to get visas for travel to other countries...... were born in australia........ educated [or lack thereof] in australia...... vote in australian politics.... and have no actual association with italy other than going there once every two years to see extended family members, and yet they jeer and mock any team that loses to italy, INCLUDING australia.

so in other words, 95% of people in australia who tell other people that they're ''italian''.

go to lygon street and see what i mean. plenty of "italians" who arent ACTUALLY italian, openly jeering australia whilst wearing italian soccer jerseys and colors

The game is still an absolute farce when stuff like this happens (Kaka disgracefully got red carded for this):

Much like the diving that Italy had to resort to to beat Australia 4 years ago - funny how the eventual winner had to resort to cheating to get past us when we were actually in form. I care not if this opinion offends anyone - maybe Italy would have won without cheating, but maybe they wouldn't have - we'll never know, because an Italian player clearly took a dive at the time, and that's cheating (even FIFA say so, though their "crackdown on diving" was merely lip service).

Until FIFA start cleaning up the diving, and their refs are held accountable for their decisions (or they introduce a video ref or at least off-field referral system, not to mention an appeals system for situations exactly like what Australia have been in twice now, where they not only lose a player for the match they earn a dubious red card in, but also for the next), the whole tournament and game itself is a farce.

For all the bad things about Cricket, Rugby League, Rugby Union and even AFL, they've at least admitted that referees are fallible and have introduced challenge/appeal systems, particularly during tournaments. FIFA keeps going with its head in the sand, standing by really bad decisions made on the spur of the moment by a single guy with only a partial view of what's happening, and totally ignoring the diving issue (that's easily resolved by the introduction of a match review committee) and they wonder why the players and fans are upset.

Personally, I wonder if Australia got targeted this year for being over-achievers - both the red cards we received were complete jokes - the Kewell hand-ball one in particular, especially given the run-through that FIFA gave every team on what the rule interpretations were going to be, and the fact that the ref's decision clearly contravened those guidelines (according to which there should have been no yellow or red card, and in fact not even a penalty given, just play on).

What a stupid thing to say.

What WOULD be reasonable to say is that in general, we don't have the strength of competition locally that exists in Europe, and Australian players who play in the A-League have less opportunity to pick up the level of skill that comes with playing in strong competitions, and so our Australian-based players (who make up the Olyroos) will struggle to compete on the world stage.

But given that individuals such as Cahill, Kewell, Schwartzer, etc go on to star in European soccer shows that any individual can be as good as any other with appropriate talent, training and opportunity, no matter where they're from initially. To state that because they're Australian they can never be as good as a European because of where they were born/raised reeks of racism and/or nationalistic elitism.

Did Australia have a chance this World Cup? Not as good a chance as they had last time (and we all know what happened to knock Australia out in 2006, even if Italy were the better team, why did they cheat to put the contest out of doubt?), I think their best players were in better form in 2006, certainly more in the prime of their sporting careers. I'd go so far as to say our squad this time aren't as good, they're not coached as well either I don't think, and they're in a harder pool (Germany were just awesome against us, that can't be discounted, and Serbia did very well to beat Germany in their match), but that's not to say they have "no chance". The refereeing decisions haven't helped either...

Have you noticed how Aussies, as much as we're proud of who we are and what we achieve, rarely stoop to putting **** on other countries, no matter how good/bad they are? Maybe this is something that you could learn from....

Considering Australia has about the population of some of the largest cities in the world we do pretty damn well at competing on a global stage in any sport!
