Feel good story: Finding the original owner of my soon to be wrecked '77 Golf.

I have recently been dismantling my 1977 VW Golf Mk1. It was my first car, purchased at the age of 16 from a gentleman in Victoria Point, QLD.

So the story has it that as I was about to photograph the fan blower/heater core for my flickr parts for sale stream, I noticed a set of folded papers wedged inside the heater core compartment. Let's ignore the fact that these papers could have spelled my fiery death - these papers consist of:

    *A stamped (20c) self-addressed envelope
*An "Application for Student's Periodical or Term Ticket" for travel from Lindfield to Central Station (Sydney) for the year 1980
*A Railways of Australia Student Identification Card
*A letter requesting the processing of the said forms.

The car was owned by a now 53 year old, who at the time (1980) was studying Medicine at UNSW. Sure enough, based on some research, she is now a GP in the Sydney area.

The papers look like something off the ark but with the names and addresses, they have directed me to who is possibly the original owner of the car! I plan to call her and advise her that what may have been her first car has lived a long and exciting life.

R.I.P "Blue Balls" (who knows what she called it!)

Share your stories of wierd stuff found in your VW (5 year old mints and cheeseburgers excluded).
