    Ever regretted tuning upgrade?

    Hi all,
I’m considering getting a “stage 1” tune for my Polo GTI and Golf GTI Original from Underground Performance and I was just wondering if anyone has ever regretted getting a stage 1 tune or is it basically a no-brainer with no cons?

The only con as such is that it will empty your wallet of cash. Otherwise, its all pros.

No regrets, once you have it done you'll just say that the car should have had this power from factory

Indeed i can only agree with the above posters the car should come from the factory like this

I used underground performance for my tune and give them a

Mine is a diesel but i got 20% increase at the wheels and that's what you should expect if not a bit more with a petrol gti

This is a 162tsi tig that was done just before my car pretty much the same motor you have in your car i think

So far i have 13,000km on the tune with no issues (apart from having to watch my speed very closely )

Gavin has done a stage 1 & 2 on my Polo GTI. I then got him to do a stage 1 and then stage 2 on my Golf R, so when I bought my Skoda Octavia Scout diesel guess who I went to for a stage 1 tune?
2001 Bora 4 Motion Sport now used by number two son
2011 Skoda Octavia Scout now with Underground Performance tune
2010 Jetta 125 tdi dsg for the misses - Impressed
2006 Polo GTI - Enhanced by some of Gav's magic - Absolutely loving it

We bought the Golf Mk5 TDI second hand from my brother, he had it Stage 1 tuned many years ago. I have regrets . . .

I regret not getting my wife to agree that it would be my daily before we bought it.

I regret letting my wife have a drive of it as soon as I had ferried it back to Canberra from Melbourne before I had her agree that it should be my daily.

I regret agreeing to let my wife have it as her daily and swap me the Caddy as my daily.

I regret not telling her up front to go easy on the tires (Bridgestone RE003 are a reasonably inexpensive performance tire but at $180 each still expensive when she drives it through roundabouts like it is on rails and that braking is optional).

I regret letting my wife share the Golf Mk5 with Daughter No. 1 after Son No. 2 blew up her car, as now Daughter No. 1 has certain expectations about how a car should handle and accelerate.

I regret not getting my wife to agree up front that for me to take the Caddy as my daily that I needed to have it Stage 1 tuned.
