You're doing the speed limit in the fast lane and the vehicle ahead drastically and suddenly slows with no brake lights to warn you.

It wouldn't have been a drastic and sudden slow-down in a manual car unless the brakes were engaged and they didn't have an e-brake in the Mk5.

The truck driver was at fault for dangerous driving and not paying due car and attention.

VW's ignorance/denial of the following main issues:

you mean ignorance/denial for a recall re. these issues. i think most would agree they have been trying to fix them for better or worse.

this is the problem with this debate; statements have been made by the media and posters here and elsewhere which generalise from specific cases to all VWs ever sold without any shred of evidence. everyone has sympathy for those with issues, especially if they have been stuffed around by dealers and VWA. but i would say the vast majority have no issues, unlikely to have any issues and are happy with their VWs.

a bit more sense, objectivity, logic and hard facts would be helpful to all in my opinion. otherwise you will eventually have all VW owners wondering which issue can kill them and when and as such the supply of second hand VWs goes through the roof and we all suffer. again just keep it objective! how hard is that no matter how angry you are? posting absurd generalisations here will not solve your problems and i doubt VWA will react to anything written by fairfax journos. if you have issues some previous posts have made it clear what your options are. use them!

at the end of the day does anyone here believe fairfax has our (VGA car owners) interests as a first priority. i doubt that very much. if they did the first article should have been an apology to all of us for giving VWs numerous awards on a consistent basis over many years and recommending them as best in class. now that would have been something!

Hell - apparently the 97 Golf also has DSG and caused the engine to stop when entering traffic according to one idiot.

Havent they already reacted and pulled all their advertising of Fairfax content?
any publicity is good publicity I reckon and reading even some comments on these forums on several threads abouts reoccurring problems I don't think VGA exactly has our interests as first priority?

I don't see whats wrong with secondhand supply going thru the roof? are you worried about resale value, surely not...

Doesn't matter if it's the fast lane or the slow lane. The person merging onto the motorway has to do so with care & get their vehicle up to the speed of the traffic.

I feel sorry for the woman that died because she was probably trying to get the vehicle to accelerate through sheer willpower to no avail.

90% of my driving is on suburban motorways & there's a lot of people that do not grasp the concept of merging. This is why there are so many that hog the fast lane.

how about you read closer. i did not say all posts were unhelpful. but even you would have to agree many are not, which simply confuses the issues.
