I think that's the minister for Regional Road Safety, it would likely be the Minister of Transport you need to send it to.

If you're emailing politicians - you can look up your local member here.
On top of that you have the Mike Mrdak - Secretary of Infrastructure and Transport
    As well as the current Minister of Transport - Anthony Albanese and since Mr Albanese may not have a job September 15 you have;
the Shadow Minister of Transport (And Leader of The Nationals) - Warren Truss

You also have your state ministries and fair trade bodies.

“When a brand is silent in an issue like this, the vacume is filled with assumptions being made on social media.”

“But would it be realistic for a company like VW to issue a recall of potentially thousands of card on the assumption that there might be a problem...perhaps not.”

Recently replaced with a 7 103TSI 7DSG Highline mk7 so might be too new to tell
    Mk6 77TSI 7DSG MY11
    Tiguan MY12 155TSI 7DSG

    Two have had problems
Touran 103TSI 7DSG - gearbox failed. Engine shut off and stalled on highway
Jetta 103TSI 7DSG - engine stalled while cruising downhill. The cousin driving it couldn't use the brake. And with the Aircon and radio on she didn't realize the engine stalled. Only discovered it when she was trying to brake reaching end of the hill. She said a prayer and the car finally came to a stop just inches for the front gate of a house at the foot of the hill. It was at about 6am so there was no traffic.

Seems a bit of a crapshoot.
Is there a typo in that, are you overseas, or have you just pulled that from somewhere else? If you don't know why I am asking then... Well.

    Only a few?

I'm amazed the FIN hasn't written an article yet xD

While we are at it, are we also going to email in to request that those who tailgate have harsher penalties imposed, as that was the actual cause of death.

The reason why the driver stopped doesn't matter. The truck driver has the overwhelming responsibility for her death. Simple.

Yes, VW needs to deal with the DSG and 118 issues - the DSG issues have been known about for ages, and are one of the reasons I went for the manual, apart from having a penis rather than a set of decorative manbags containing a manicure set, and there have been question marks over their reliability. The 118 was not correctly set up for the Australian market - these issues do not happen anywhere near as frequently in the UK market (and as an aside, I wonder how many problems are caused by drivers filling up the 91 petrol) and needs to be addressed.

But some of the claims (not here necessarily, more in the media) are just starting to get a bit fanciful. Hell. Mine spluttered once and lost power. It was probably a bad batch of fuel as it has never done it again. I'm not quivering in a corner going "OMG I can't drive it, I'm too scared" in the hope of joining a class action to get some free cash.

The latter. Hard firm pressure. Just like driving a HD Holden. Plus you get a few goes of assisted braking due to the vacuum reservoir.

I agree the engine shouldn't stall but if it does then the tacho would go to zero & the dash would light up like a christmas tree. If the sound of the radio makes you oblivious to the lack of engine noises, engine braking etc then maybe the radio is too loud?

Just reading through this thread, I'm a little confused at which cars models/years are having the issue (if any). Is it mostly cars in more recent years or really any model/year VW/Audi etc.? I've got an 06' Gti DSG and I've never experienced any real shudder or limp mode.

It's every car ever made by VW if you read the comments page of the Age.

Hell - apparently the 97 Golf also has DSG and caused the engine to stop when entering traffic according to one idiot.

Seriously though, the 6spd DSG in yours has some issues for some people. The 7spd DSG has a lot of issues for a lot of people.

If yours is working fine, then it's working fine. Just remember it is an automated manual, and it has a clutch in it. And just like a manual some driving techniques wear the clutch out quicker than others.

VW's ignorance/denial of the following main issues:

    7DSG, 1.4 twinchargers i.e. 118tsi, Polo GTI
Certain diesel engine - injector issue causing engine shutdown

    Smaller issues:
    DSG's in general

    Think that sums it up?

Started looking on that AustLII website, found this
EUB Pty Ltd v Audi Australia Pty Ltd (Civil Claims) [2012] VCAT 892 (27 June 2012)

so if I understand correctly Audi was ordered to extend the warranty by two years?
