I thought I had read that it was being applied to existing cars as well, but now can't find where I read it. Might be worth speaking to your dealer and/or VW to see if it applies.

Not exactly. The proceedure is to test them, find out what the defective component is and the broken translation leads me to believe that the issue in generally with the solenoids inside the mechatronics unit.

It goes back through the re-work line and tested again. If it passes this time, it goes out. If it doesn't then back through again until all the solenoids are (supposedly) working correctly.

So I guess the simple answer is no.

Seeing as this is an election year...why not all of us email the member responsible?

Perhaps some political pressure could lead to an inquiry to make effective change for future vehicle owners (not just VW owners):

    Home

I've just sent a carefully worded email to the member...I'd advise the same to everyone else.

P.S remember...they need votes later this year...a few thousand would go a long way for them

Correction, it was specifically related to the Touran in Denmark (as outlined by blogger Nihad), not the passat in sweden. So now that is 2 scandanavian contries that have issued this order it seems......?

And as pointed out recently, the owners manual in some DQ200 eqipped models says that (paraphrased from memory) that the car should not be driven in periods of stop start traffic due to the tendancy of the gearbox to overheat which requires the car to either be stopped and allowed to cool down or driven at speeds over 20kph to let the airflow cool the box down.

If these cars cannot be driven in Scandanavia without thermal related damage to the clutch packs in stop start traffic, how can they sell them into a country where, by VW's own admission they have to detune cars due to the climate (which we all know is marketting crap so the Golf R isn't faster than the double-the-price S3)? Why on australian delivered 6R polo's does the build sheet contain the words "Tropical Build Spec" if there is no issue with the climate affecting these things? Why does it need to be made apparent when all the fluids etc are all the same and have to comply to the same standards outlined by VAG?

Why also is it that when you have clutch pack issues and you walk into a dealership, that you are told that the newest updated clutchpacks have been installed, and yet exactly the same clutch packs came out of the car from the factory?! Yes, the might be the latest update, but that update is 2+ years old already, yet these issues are still going on and on.

I called my local dealership. Unfortunately it only applies to 2013 model cars.

Your dealership is screwing you then. I have been told (and it says it on my car service record) that my drivetrain warrantee is 5ys/150000km with a general warrantee of 3ys/unlimited. It applies to ALL VW's that have current warrantee periods.

And BTW mine is a 2011 model

The ACCC and Department of Infrastructure are still conducting preliminary investigations however their investigators have stated if you have exhausted all options (Talking to your dealer, then talking to the vehicle manufacturer) you then should proceed to the following sites.

Please note they are currently backlogged...so do it in writing so the case officer can create a file number:

    Consumer

    Vehicle Complaints and Recalls

Also the ACCC has confirmed that all consumers are protected against faulty products etc regardless the vehicles age, if it is deemed to be a "widespread" problem then its up to the manufacturer to conduct a full recall with the relevant fix on all vehicles / parts affected.

Hence why VWA will not reply, they need to identify the issue before the ACCC and Department of infrastructure and transport hand down their final report on this issue.

P.S Just noticed we have had over 14 thousand views...Hi Fairfax media, Volkswagen Australia (and their affiliates / dealerships) as random visitors / concerned consumers. *Waves*

And reimburse those of us that they have made to pay out of pocket expenses to repair defective vehicles, that they knew full well were defective to begin with!
