Why don't VWA increase the warranty on all DSG's to ten years like they did in the US?

Why don't VWA increase the warranty on all DSG's to ten years like they did in the US?
What's the point? They will just keep throwing band aids at the problem and never fix it. They will just end up doing what they did with the problematic 1.4 twincharged engine. Just discontinue building it.
What needs to happen is that VGA should be made to repay owners a percentage of the drop in resale value of the car, I say $6000 per car with this gearbox for polos, $9k for golfs, $12 for passats etc. On top of that, be forced to publically admit in writing that there is an issue, then those warranty claims that dealers have refused because they "can't find any problem" can be contested, resulting in full gearbox replacement including clutch packs and mechatronics units.
Finally, a $15,000,000 fine for misleading the public and putting all owners of vehicles with the dq200 in (greater than usual on the roads) harms way.
Think of it this way for those of you that have not experienced this first hand, like some of us have.
Imagine if you were allowed to walk into a warehouse and randomly select 5% of the baby formula in that warehouse. Into that 5% you put a low-ish dose of cyanide. Not enough to kill everyone that has that formula, but enough to make them have some near misses, but it might cause one death.
How is that any different...?

OzVWCrap,
Yes. This gearbox hates stop start traffic. In one of the Northern European countries, you cannot buy a vehicle with the dq200 for use as a taxi because vw in that country have issued a statement saying that it is unsuitable for use in a taxi due to how a taxi is driven.

I've been reading the thread with interest.
Does anyone know if all this media has affected extended warranty prices? Anyone got one in the last week or so?
Anyone know what a new metritronics unit costs, installed (estimate)?
Anyone know what a new clutch pack costs, installed (estimate)?
It is concerning. Mine is about to tick over 3 years old and I haven't really had any problems (touch wood) although I have been paying more attention and now i think my mind plays tricks on me.
All cars (brands) can have problems I know this. But Gavs 80% on metritronics has me concerned as well as the clutches not liking traffic.... Where do these people think they are owned, it certainly isn't the country. The polo doesn't make a good ute.
Pepper don't worry mate, VW Australia issued a few months a Driveline warranty which is a 5 year warranty on the drivetrain, gearbox, mech, clutch and engine...so +2 to your 3 years.
However confirm with your dealer...but this should be the new norm.
Interesting read in this thread. It has certainly stirred up a lot of emotion...
As a VW owner who has had cause to make a complaint (not related to this topic) to VGA, I am not surprised by the level of emotion in this discussion as i rate VGA's customer service as woeful.
They bare no responsibility for any problems not even factory issues and leave the consumer to fend for themselves. To me, this media attention on VW is well overdue.
I thought you owned a diesel dsg car? If so, the the gearbox is totally different and isn't covered by any of the recalls mentioned.
As for the drivetrain warranty in the USA:
Powertrain limited warranty* (All models except 2011 and newer Touaregs)
5 years/60,000 miles (whichever occurs first) Powertrain Limited Warranty.
Yes that was in Sweden and was the Passat.
EDIT: http://www.teknikensvarld.se/2012/12...****-som-taxi/ its in Swedish tho but seems it only affected Passats running on gas
