That explains why a mate on my other forum was given a replacement Volvo after 11 months when the dealership failed to repair his vehicle (they made it worse actually). Then he got his money back after 4 weeks with the new vehicle because it had issues as well.

So the simple solution is to buy from states that have lemon laws and boycott local dealers in ones state?

In regards to the incident, until the coroner hands down the findings or the results of the investigation into their vehicles is complete, there's not much VW can do.

At this point in time, we (the general public) do not know for certain who or what is to blame for Ms Ryan's death.


How VW deals with its customers is another matter.

Typical corporate behaviour - is anyone really surprised?

I've read a few pages and on the face of it, having had experience with VW Aus's processes- I'm with OzVW and RoknRob.I'm a VW person through and through. It wasn't my Injector shutdown that phased me when it happened ( as i was expecting it)-no it was the fact that VW knew about the problem, took an actuarial approach in deciding on a non official recall, and didn't pay for a tow which cost $800. So unnecessary, and to someone who's family are devotees(7 Vw's and counting) and acted very civily and professionally in all dealings.They really have cocked up dealing with issues they are/were aware of,-so so unnecesary the approach. I was only too happy to accept a phone call from the age.I had no bad word to say about the car but stated known issues with a range of the VW cars which could be investigated, however my focus was on VW's approach to its customers not their cars!

You were born at the similar times as I, so I expect from someone from the older generation to still remember how the things were fixed in the old days - by real actions not hiding behind the keyboards. The Fairfax and the media will not fix your car, the VAG will, you can use the media to try to push your issue, but it may take much longer, than parking the cars that aren't safe and stop the payments on them, IF there is big enough number of people then it should speed the process up. ;)

Use the facts not the posts in the cyberspace! The car companies have the facts, media have the hearsays (my apology to those with the real problems). In order to fix the fault one has to be able to confirm it (reproduce), I'm sorry but that's how it is.

You really don't get it. VWA will never fix our cars unless they are forced to. But the onus is not on us, the purchasers, it's on VWA. I'm from the older generation also and I've never dealt with such grubs as VWA. And I was a serial Alfa/Fiat owner in the 70s and 80s.

VWA cars are basically cleverly marketed crap.

Thanks to the Fairfax articles, I think there is a (slight) chance we might get some use out of our vehicles before they become landfill without paying fortunes to 'independent' VW repairers who mindlessly toe the party line.
