DSG Service, filler tool where to acquire or alternative method?

i am planning to do a DSG service this long Easter break since i wont be working and have got all the parts.

I have realised that my DSG has been leaking so i wont be able to do the measure and fill method as it probably has less than what its suppose to have in there,

does anyone know any other alternative methods or does anyone have the filler tool which i could kindly borrow?

Never do the measure and fill method.

It self-levels, so just put in as much as it holds - ~4.5L.

As for the tool, you can get them off Ebay easily, so maybe hold off on doing the service until it turns up. Only takes an hour tops, to do the service on it.

i was actually thinking is the tool really needed?

lets say i drain the oil from the bottom, plug it back up, add about 5 liters from the top through the oil filter location then using vcds let it warm up and open up the bottom and let it come out till it starts to drip?

cause is the dripping coming through the black inner 8mm DSG plastic plug thing? so once its starts to trip i will add the plug

kdog that's the procedure I did with two 6 speed DSGs. Worked perfectly.

Roughly:
Remove filter cover and filter
Drop the gearbox fluid by opening the hex socket and then 8mm plastic flute.
Reinstall both 8mm and larger hex plug.
Top fill 5 litres of DSG fluid.
Install filter and filter cover.
Warm up gearbox (I just let the car idle for 10 minutes as I had no VCDS).
Open main hex bolt underside and drain excess fluid until it becomes a trickle. Replace hex head.

You will need a special funnel to top fill as the opening is tiny and hard to get to, particularly if you are trying to save yourself the labour of removing the battery (on my MkV TDI golf and B7 Passat TDI it was possible in both cases to not remove the battery). I managed to get one at Repco for about $10.

At the end of it you are going to wonder what all the fuss is about, and be happy for saving yourself $300-400 dollars.

Yeah, car needs to be level when checking the level.

You'd only do it out of desperation, to be honest.

can confirm worked like a treat, i find it pointless filling it from the bottom when you can do it from the top, if you have the time
