I got through on the 3rd try (busy signal the first couple of times) and was on hold for about 15 minutes.

I was told that of the ~60,000 VW / Audi / Skoda vehicles from that timeframe with the DQ200 DSG, only ~24,000 are affected by the recall. The person I spoke to could not tell me which cars or why. Those affected will get a letter in July. These cars will have the mechatronic unit replaced when the parts are available (obviously it will take a while to get 24,000 of these together!).

I'm still concerned for mine - the transmission is playing up intermittently and my warranty expires in July ...

To those still wondering about Fabias and Yetis - Here's the Skoda recall notice on the Government's recall site.
Octavias and Superbs manufactured between November 2008 and August 2011 only.

Have you reported/shown this to your local dealer? If not, then get it on an official record somewhere.

Yes, I reported it when I had the car serviced after I bought it 2nd hand (purchased 12/2012, serviced 01/2013). It only happens occasionally and it didn't misbehave when they test drove it. I have spoken to the dealer a couple of times since then and they really need me to bring the car in when it IS shuddering on take-off. I don't know how to make the car misbehave (it's only happened a couple of times) so this is proving to be quite a challenge!

It's still eligible for warranty cover even after July under Australian consumer law, as long as you brought the fault to the dealer's attention during the car's warranty period.

If you think you may have issues reaching a suitable resolution with the dealer in future (and to be fair to the dealer it is hard to diagnose and repair intermittent faults), then make sure to document everything (dairy notes, emails etc).

To what pologti18t said - you want to make sure there is an official record. It should be on your service reports that you told them there was an issue, they couldn't find it, and they asked you to bring it in when it is showing the issue.

If it's not on your service reports as having been reported, then if you need to take action after your warranty period, it will be your word against theirs.

the DSG in the RS is the 6-speed DQ250 version.
the recall is for the 7-speed DQ200.
