Hey all,
I am after some advice here.
I bought a 2009 V10 Touareg in 2012 and a few years ago I did a DPF Delete tune with a local Perth shop. They put a new 3 inch exhaust system on and did the tune.
Everything was very good for a while and while she blew a little more smoke than I had hoped the old girl was faster, more responsive and had better fuel economy that before the delete.
A few months after the work was done I had the first of what has become many engine warning lights. The workshop did some fiddling and the problem went away for another two months. Suffice it to say that the problem has never been sorted and the guys who did the work no longer bother to reply to my emails. Last week I sent an email to the German company who provided the tune, McChip-DKR. They have not replied either.
Research tells me that there are some dodgy tunes out there and I see some old threads here about tunes but nothing recent.
Does anyone on this forum have a good experience or knowledge on this?
I would really like to resolve it. While the engine light coming on seems to be a sort of phantom alarm in that it to alert that the DPF’s are not functioning properly - they don’t exist - I am not sure what the engine management system is doing about this or if it is causing issues. Can’t be good and might be bad.
I look forward to hearing any feedback.
Cheers
Chris
Mate you are getting responses in the diesel section, and got one from the last openly deleting company left I know of, it's HIGHLY illegal to offer this service, let alone do it to your car, I'm actually surprised they have lasted this long. I'd be surprised if anyone else will openly put their hand up, as a consumer you face up to $12k in fines if busted, as a company the initial fine to two tuners I know of last year was $60k first offence, with a max up to $120k.
I and most tuners can do them, but no customer is worth a $60-$120k fine to me.
