100% agree. Maybe those who think it's okay, should have the cameras everywhere at work over their working environment recording their every move.

That's not an uncommon thing these days.

If you work at an airport, railway station, retail store, etc you will have a camera on you. We even had overt surveillance all over the base and covert surveillance in the cargo holds of the aircraft when I was at Qantas. That dates back to the '90s so there's nothing new.

Keep in mind something needed to go wrong before someone bothered looking at them.

I'm a bit torn on this one. Personally, I can't see why a service provider would have a problem with a dashcam (My guy has never said anything) but I don't bother checking footage after a service either.

OTOH, I've seen some people post footage of wrong-doings while at a service provider & I've thought "What's your problem. Get over it!" So I can understand why the dealer would wish to circumvent all the perennial whiners.

I usually unplug them, I havent given my consent to be recorded. Sometimes I dont.

Problem is, if someone does something wrong in the vehicle, its more likely to end up on a forum like this first before actually contacting the dealer and discussing what was filmed.

If you trust your mechanic, you should have no need to record them.

Thanks to Hillbilly's suggestion, I tested my dash cam and found that for short power on duration (key on/key off) the dash cam battery does not hold charge long enough to save the file properly - although it still appears there with a file size appropriate for the duration of the "trip".

I will install a new battery and turn my cam off if requested.
