I am with you too Sunny ..... My Focus ST battery is in a location that required me to be able to do a contortionist act whilst being able to lift a 17kg battery with just 2 fingers. Not to mention all the protective covers that is sits under which alone took 15 minutes to remove and required watching an instructional video from youtube ...

What happened to locating the car battery in an accessible location which takes 5 minutes to pop out and change ?

Agentthumb: hmm.......... at least it's an AGM battery (good thing). Yes, just make the serial number something different. All the CAN Gateway admaps the I have in my database have the same serial number - so it's not important to input an actual number.

Please don't PM to ask questions about coding, or vehicle repairs. The better place to deal with these matters is on-line, in the forum proper. That way you get the benefit of the expertise of the wider forum! Thank you.

godzilr: As I said in my response to Agenthumb, these matters are really only important if the car has a battery monitor fitted (see my picture in the other post). The CAN Gateway module can't distinguish if the new battery is based on the VIN, or not (and frankly, it doesn't matter). You have to tell the Gateway that a new battery is fitted (if the battery monitor is hanging-off the negative battery terminal).
