well my no 1 just failed again with zero warning. 4 and loom were replaced by VW in late 2010. Also needs new wiring loom again. Wonder how long will last this time and I have to fork out for the bill this time. Is there any way of looking after them any additive or cleaner, always run Caltex Vortex.

Seems like you got the minimum 'durability' life of 5 years / 160,000kms WHICHEVER COMES FIRST. (applicable to all euro 4,5, and 6 engines)
So I guess you wouldn't want others to know if you were wanting to offload it.

My understanding is the from around 2017 there won't be a EU standard, and the U.S. standard will be adopted as the world one.
Emissions engineers are sweating blood apparently and lobbyists too.
