China recall 380000 cars with DSG7

Don't underestimate our power. Modern companies depend hugely on reputation and word of mouth. Let's encourage VW to do the right thing - wherever and whenever we can.

Well if you believe that ... then I think it would be more effective voicing the issues, concerns and dissatisfaction on their Facebook page.

But hang on ... based on a quick scroll through, it looks like many people already do that!

However it appears that VWA don't seem to even bother to comment or respond to any negative feedback.


Quite frankly, they know they can get away with it because let's all face it, they do offer the best 'Bang for Buck' product in the market.
If you don't buy it ... someone else will!

If you read the article it says software reflash and mechatronic replacement if necessary. But it seems that only resolves the issues for small percentage of users

A survey report released Friday by Menutor Consulting shows that among 513 drivers who encountered DSG-related problems from June 21, 2012 to February 28, 2013, 52 had their mechatronics units replaced by Volkswagen dealers, but only 31 percent of them said their problems had been solved.

So, either the gearbox is a totally flawed design and no recall will ever fix it... or... its a driver issue (perceptions on how DSG works etc)

I thought they had given China and USA ten year warranty, vs the five they are now giving here.

VW would certainly take some interest if the criticism appeared on national television, I have no doubt that a resolution would be reached between VW and that consumer.

I know of some 118 tsi owners who have gone through enough issues that would warrant a submission to this.

I posted todays article on the T5 pages about the China situation it was moved as it was not relevant to the transporters , but in my opinion it goes to the heart of VW problems across many different models . Transporters are also fitted now with DSG as it replaced the Tiptronic . From personal experience with the Tiptronic it seems VW do not care about any problems that occur as they seem to believe that you buy a diesel powered vehicle whose engine will last for many hundreds of kilometres but because of a strange service protocol it will need $11000 to repair the auto at around 130.000 kays when it fails for no reason of the customers making . I now own a new T5 with DSG and I am not convinced that it is going to last better than the Tiptronic , already at only less than 1000 kilometres it has twice failed to engage forward drive . I reverse out of driveway foot on brake engage drive and foot to accelerator and it rolls backwards WTF had to shift to neutral twice and back to drive before it decided that I wanted to go forwards . This auto has only been around for what around 3 years and from reports worldwide it has not exactly had what could be described as a reliable image .

Perhaps a Class Action submission to ACCC is called for? I went to the ACCC but they will not proceed as I am an individual.

I am happy to contribute to a class action, so are a multitude of others in Whirlpool. However the problem is someone needs to sort of head it. I know close to nothing about class actions so if anyone bothered, I'm willing to contribute all my VW woes to get something done...

A few WP posters are pretty angry with the state of things with VW and their cars so I'm sure quite a few will be more than happy to participate. I'm happy to at least contact disgruntled VW owners but someone needs to give the class action some direction.

Do the cheap runabouts really need DSG? The lack of conventional auto must scare a few potential buyers off for fear of reliability issues, not that VWs previous slush boxes weren't riddled with those. Not a DSG hater, just wondering why really base models, or commercial stuff gets it.

Not to mention the improved economy and lowered emissions benefits found by using a DSG type gearbox.

Hence why every other manufacturer is stuffing about at the moment with retrofitting their cars with various versions of automated manuals.


They're all prone to problems. Just the nature of the beast and they will all work it out eventually.

I can't believe noone has even brought up Merc's ACS system. It burns itself out...
