China VW will replace DSG mechatronic + software update, for 380000 cars

reason is suddenly no power during drive.

Are we talking about the 7speed dry clutch or the DQ500 wet clutch?

It would appear to be dry.

Lucky people the Chinese are, but VW cannot afford to upset a market where annual vehicle sales (overall) is expected to reach 20 million (!) in just a few years time.

In contrast, overall vehicle sales totalled just over 1.1 million in Australia for 2012. Small fry indeed.

Yes, plenty - there is a huge thread about it somewhere in this forum.

I'm all for ragging on the piece of **** dsg gearbox... wait.. I mean...

anyway. 380,000 out of 20,000,000 isn't _too_ bad, right?

20 million is the overall figure. VW sold about 2.8 million vehicles in China in 2012.

I could be wrong, but I believe your DSG is a DQ500 (that is if your Tiggy actually has a DSG box). This gearbox can handle higher loads of torque etc and they don't seem to have the multitude of issues that the other DSG gearboxes have.

Also take note, just because the same model of car is recalled in another country doesn't mean it is recalled here. This is exactly what VW Australia told me when I contacted them about my Polo problems.
