that thing is amazing bro, havent really comented on it yet but all the work you have done and the end result is massive, you and the crew should be well proud of it.
it would be so menacing hitting it from that driving position , with those rear tyres in your face, screaming exhaust and fuel all over you and watching those front runners float around.
was chatting with a workmate who has a blown ls1 and runs 11's and asked him about fuel rates for top fuelers, ie how much fuel do they drink on a pass? he wasnt sure but we concurred it would be a ****load
great work
Looking pretty damn awesome Preeny!
Thanks mate. I find it hard to appreciate it a lot of the time because i only see the imperfections. And we've been working on it for so long that it seems less impressive now. But i still love it!
Early stuff like what we've got run 21 USgallon/min vane fuel pumps (392cui). The newer engines run a different and more complicated fuel system with 2 gear pumps and they flow 80 gallon/min (500cui). An engine like ours should produce between 2000 and 2500 horsepower. The modern engines make around about 8000hp.
Our engine will burn about 3 gallons of 85% in about 5 minutes of "Cackling". Idling on the methanol warmup bottle it will suck up 10 litres in a few minutes. You can pretty much see the level dropping.
AFR for complete combustion is about 1.3:1 as opposed to petrol which is about 14.7:1 and methanol at (don't quote me) around 8:1. So yeah.. it's like tipping a bucket at WOT.
