Car shipping - who's good and cheap?

I need to ship a car from Brisbane to Canberra and the quotes I've got so far are around $700. Surely there must be someone who charges much less otherwise it looks like I'll fly up and drive it back.

Sounds about right. I don't think you'll find anything significantly cheaper.

A word of warning, you get what you pay for. From my experience, go the cheapest price, you'll end up with the worst service.

    Similar case.
I had my bike sent from Hervey Bay to Wagga with them.
I didn't pay for it though

    Good service.

I bought a Navara from North Brisbane and was quoted about $750 to Sydney, so I decided to fly up and drive it back in the one day
The plane arrived at 10 am bought the ute filled up and was home by 11pm and it only cost Air fare $150 plus 100 litres of diesel $150 total $300, The seller picked me up at the Airport which made it a little easier .

I got my Pirelli shipped from Penrith to Brisbane for $600 a few years back but I wasn't happy. I'd happily pay a bit more for a good service.

'Cheap' and 'Good' are not normally found in the same sentence.

    Good service.
Yeah. Defence paid for my harley dwn to melb. Prixcar was the carrier too.

Most places that offer good prices are just brokers. Be careful. I had my GTI sent to Darwin through Auto Logistics. Service was ok. But delivery was just a case of they dropped it at a servo. No depot... just a phone call from the truck driver to say come get it.

Another vote for the fly- drive option. Brisbane - Canberra is an easy 12 hour drive, you'll save $500+ on the shipping and get to enjoy the car without worrying about the transit company.

If you do choose to truck it instead, I'd recommend Alan Norton Transport. They're not the cheapest but their trucks are secure, reliable and on-time, and I've never had a problem with their service.

    Brisbane to Canberra.

    12 hours drive.

    MK2 GTI.

    Middle of summer.

    No aircon.

    Drivers window doesn't wind down.

Wife doesn't know I'm getting the car.

Wife doesn't know it's the same car I sold 2 years ago.

No worries, what could possibly go wrong.
