    Car Hire in Europe

Planning a trip with a few mates to UK and Europe next year. Going to Goodwood FOS, Silverstone F1 and Tour de France plus driving up to various auto destinations in Germany.

The best deal we have found so far is with DriveAway Holidays. We're probably going to go with a Diesel Golf. Best deal we have so far is $600ish for 11 days.

Does anyone jhave some suggestions on other good car hire sites etc?

We've looked at leasing but not enough time and it is a lot more expensive for our shorter trip.

My figures are from 5 years ago, so quite useless but the usual car hire companies exist (europcar, etc) - you have to watch that you are allowed to take it to the mainland, though.

Ah sorry i should mention that it is all on the mainland. We're picking up in Paris and dropping off in Frankfurt.

    awesome thread!

I've in the middle of trying to find a decent rate for car hire in France and Italy. Im finding that EuropCar seem to be the mob to go to, AU$311 for a 5 day hire of a Peuguot 207.

Thats a fantastic deal especially since you are dropping it off at a different country. A couple of years ago we wanted to pick a car up in spain and drop it off in Paris and there was going to be a ~200 Euro surcharge (Hertz)!!!!

I've always gone with Hertz because my professional membership gets me a discount with them, but this Driveaway holidays mob seems to be even cheaper anyway!!!!
