Hello everyone!
I've been contacted through ClubVeeDub by a gentleman named Paul Rodgers from Edge who are putting putting together a video for Volkswagen to celebrate the release of the Golf GTI 40 Years anniversary edition.
They are conducting a social media campaign inviting Golf GTI drivers past and present to submit ANY video footage they may have of them and their Golf GTI. They expect that they will get a fair bit of modern footage, but might be lacking when it comes to footage of older generations of GTI - either modern footage of old GTIs, or old footage of old GTIs.
From their email:
So if you're interested (or know someone who is) and want to get in contact with Paul, give me a yell and I'll send you his contact details. Here are a couple of the Facebook posts we are going out with:
1. Would you like to star in our fan-powered birthday tribute film? Our beloved Golf GTI is turning 40 and it’s fitter and faster than ever. Send us your Golf GTI videos, pictures and stories and you could be part of our celebration of 40 years of performance.
2. Is your Golf GTI a piece of history that should star in our 40th birthday film? Maybe it was the car you and your old man worked on together. Maybe it got you to the church on time. Maybe you drove your first kid back from the hospital in it. We’d love to get your GTI videos, pictures and stories to help us create a very special 40th birthday film.
My question to you is: do you know anyone at the club who has some footage they might like to consider providing to us? Again, it can be old or new. And it really can be of anything. Their GTI on a track, reversing out of the driveway, the GTI with kids in the back, whatever.
I'm trying to cast the net as wide as possible. And, as you can imagine, the success of our tribute video really will depend on the quality of footage we receive from fans.
Aaron.
