I haven't heard anything about buying parts mate but I am keen to hear about experiences as well. I always like to personalise my cars with a few things like metal pedals etc. Hasn't anyone bought stuff overseas??

Hi everyone,
With the Aus$ being so darn good at the moment, I was thinking of getting some accessories for my Jetta such as the cupholder/divider/bottle opener, metal pedals,. and metal trimmings for the steering wheels, shipped over from some online american websites.
I've visited a few, but I'm wondering if anyone else has done the same thing and what their experiences have been like, both positive and negative before I go ahead and click to my heart's content.
BTW I must say some of you guys are really bad influences!
Cheers,

For the majority of my crap even without the doller being so high i can still make a decent saving with OEM / Performance Parts for Audi, BMW, Mercedes Benz, Mini, Porsche & Volkswagen - ECS Tuning. Great place, good service, fast shipping got the lot. Had one issue with one thing missing in an order but easily and promptly solved. Always ask if your unsure on things tho, as certain parts can be LHD only such as pedals and carpets.

Dont forget that some parts may be different due to lhd/rhd.
Thanks for the replies guys,
There's an accesories thread in the MkVi Golf forum that got me to start this thread where I thought I'd get responses from a wide variety of owners.
Anyhow, I decided to start small and order a centre console drinks divider/bottle opener and some silver steering wheel trim from these guys: Welcome to TM Tuning - your # 1 source for VW & Audi OEM and aftermarket parts All up cost about $60 plus $15 P&H which I thought was reasonable. However, I was surprised to be filling out my paypal request in German, despite them being based in Ohio... So we'll see how it goes.
And yeah, its a good point to ensure that everything is RHD compatible. Floor mats seem to universal (btw I wish I didn't get ripped off by being tempted to pay an extra $150 for them when I visited a dealer... ) for the MkV Jetta/Golf anyway.
Either way I'll let you know when these parts arrive, and be keen to know on the progress of anyone else buying accescories online.
