A new VW dealership has opened at Mt Gravatt (more Greenslopes really) on Logan Road, not sure who is actually running it, just drove past it this afternoon.

It is definitely a BB warranty, officially titled a 'Byran Byrt Vehicle Warranty-Gold Plus', which is valid for three years after the manufacturer's warranty expires (So extended from 2017 to 2020 for me).

I have a warranty number for the policy, but obiviously that does not help me if no one will even listen to me. Cost $1,595, I admit I probably got done harshly there a little. At the time the guy explained to me that the VW one was a fair amount more expensive and only lasted 2 years. I was satisfied with this as I was aiming to spend a bare minimum to last me for a considerable time (90TSI Manual driveaway, floor mats and the warranty being the only extras [and the floor mats being free ]). So you can imagine my frustration in having spent a fair emount extra on top of the car's value to find out it is now useless. I am now a full-time student and paid the car off from my full time work last year, and was hoping that I could have peace of mind throughout my studies over the next few years.
Unfortunately it sounds like you were a bit nieve in the purchase process as it's fairly well known that the warranties provided by individual dealers aren't very good value. Generally they are given free to seal the deal. If it's any compensation you'll probably find the warranty didn't cover much anyway. I hope you screwed down a decent discount off RRP - 5-10%.

All you can do is apply to the receiver as an unsecured creditor - maybe you'll get some money back.

It's not too late to get the genuine VW extended warranty. There's a thread or two about it in the forum as to which dealer has the best prices.

If nothing else, you can add it to the life experience education for future purchases.

Rang Skoda Aust Friday and they referred my call to Auto Sports, who told me that they can't definitively say there will be a Southside Skoda dealership yet! Offered to keep me informed.

    What to make of that?

Sunday morning and we dropped by the yet to be opened VW dealership at Greenslopes and the painters were still working on the facia of the showroom. Competition for the other dealers is always a good thing!

Sorry to hear about your dramas jomandybri. If it is any consolation my workmate that I mentioned on page 3 did exactly the same thing, extended warranty on a brand new car. Only difference was he paid more than you so he's lost even more. Unfortunately its just fingers crossed to see if you get anything back.

A good move by Prestige Skoda, now listed as Brisbane City ŠKODA. Sort of marks their standing as the dealership in Brisbane, doesn't it! Just saying not promoting them!

At their Mansfield service centre at the moment. It's "Mt Gravatt Volkswagen" now and they even charged me for engine oil top-up!! $19.90 and Bryan Byrt was saying there's a problem with my car and they were ordering some replacement parts for me before they go bankrupt. Is this really my fault? What should I do? Would VW Australia help?
