So, I had a brake booster warning light come on. At first it was intermittent, coming on when accelerating uphill, going out when braking down hill. More likely to happen when it was hot. Eventually I was getting an ABS warning at startup, which went out at about 10KMH and stayed away until the next start. And, to make things worse, my Jetta was just out of warranty.
Took it to Duttons at Totness, who I bought the vehicle from new. They spoke to Volkswagen and agreed to process it as a goodwill warranty claim.
First they checked brake fluid - that can cause the issue. That was fine, so it was booked in and the brake booster replaced. Unfortunately that didn't fix the issue.
Then they replaced the ABS module. Still no dice.
Finally the service manager said they were going to keep it until it was fixed. Apparently when they plug it in to the computer the information is shared with VW. VW suggested checking the wiring in a certain area - bingo. A wire came away in the mechanic's fingers. Fixed the connector and the warning light went away.
I must say kudos to VW, we hear so much about warranty difficulties but they looked after me.
And kudos to Duttons. Each time they called the car in they had a no cost loan car. When they finished each step they allowed me to bring the loan car back and pick up mine when it was convenient. I have no hesitation in recommending Dutton service (and sales) to anyone.

Depends you have a good service history with the dealer? I’ve found that can assist with goodwill gestures.
Regardless, good result. I’ve found VW (through my dealer) really good to deal with.
Cheers
