Boot light in Mark V GTI

Do Mark VI GTIs have a boot light?

I only really noticed this omission on my Mark V GTI after acquiring a Polo 77TSI which, somewhat incongruously, had a boot light which makes a huge difference in the dark. You can't see anything in my Golf's boot when dark without a torch or some other overhead light.

Seems like a major oversight not including one in the Mark V Golf but I wonder if this was addressed in the Mark VI. If not, in the Mark VII perhaps?

If the answer to the Monty Hall problem was 50/50, the contestant, on average, would win the car 50% of the time simply by sticking with their original guess...but you can only win a one-in-three guessing game 33.33% of the time so it can't be 50/50, can it?

My MK5 came with a boot light. It is a MY09 though. It may also depend on the spec level of the car. Mine is fitted on the right hand side of the boot just under the parcel shelf.

Thanks for that . .. mine's an MY08 Mk V so I'd better take a closer look . . . a $40,000 car with no boot light would be anomalous. Be great if I just needed a bulb!

PS - all good - I just need to work out how to replace the bulb - not sure I've ever seen it work!

Boot light in Mark V GTI

I've got an MY08 GTI and it definitely has a boot light. Maybe yours has blown and VCDS isn't reading it? Fairly sure all Mk5 Golfs had boot lights.

Edit: Just re-read. You had a blown bulb and it wasn't showing a bulb out error? That's a bit weird.

RE: Boot light in Mark V GTI

I don't think the boot light gets monitored. Similariy the four footwell lights don't either
